On June 1, 2025, the TON blockchain experienced a temporary disruption that led to an approximately 40-minute pause in block production. As detailed in the official post-mortem by the TON Foundation, the root cause was traced to an unexpected condition in the masterchain dispatch queue. This led to validators halting propagation as they awaited masterchain blocks, resulting in a temporary liveness issue. The foundation acted swiftly, issuing a fix (commit ton-block#ba71e1f) that addressed the queue logic and restored network stability shortly after.

While the incident affected network operation for a brief period, it’s important to note that the foundational mechanisms of the protocol held firm as there were no consensus faults, no slashing, and no permanent state inconsistencies.

Twinstake’s Response and Role

Twinstake’s infrastructure monitoring and alerting systems flagged anomalies in the TON network’s performance within minutes of the disruption. Our team initiated a rapid response process and promptly escalated the issue to the TON core development and infrastructure teams, ahead of any public acknowledgement.

We maintained an active dialogue with the TON team throughout the resolution process, receiving and deploying updates as soon as they were released. Our timely actions ensured that our validators remained compliant and contributed to the network's resumption of operations.

Critically, none of Twinstake's clients experienced any impact on their staking rewards due to this incident. The minor duration and swift restoration ensured staking continuity without impact on rewards issuance.

Demonstrated Expertise in TON

Twinstake is one of the few institutional-grade staking providers offering deep technical expertise and operational support across networks like TON. Our validators are engineered for resilience, and our team maintains a proactive relationship with TON’s protocol developers, enabling us to anticipate risks and react swiftly to network-level events.

We commend the TON Foundation for their transparent handling of the issue and for rapidly releasing a patch that addressed the problem at its root. Their commitment to network resilience and developer responsiveness reflects the growing maturity of their protocol and their readiness to support institutional adoption.

Operational Vigilance in Institutional Staking

Incidents, while rare, are an expected facet of evolving blockchain infrastructure. What distinguishes best-in-class operators is how these moments are handled. At Twinstake, we pride ourselves on proactive monitoring and thorough analysis, as demonstrated by our immediate client communications on June 1st and this comprehensive follow-up report.

This is a testament to the robustness of our infrastructure, our protocol-specific knowledge, and the trust that institutions place in us.

If you have any questions or would like a more detailed walk-through of our TON infrastructure posture or operational risk protocols, our team is always available.
